Evaluation Question 4

Evaluation

For the evaluation stage of my project, I used Facebook as a social media platform to show people my work and get some audience feedback. Facebook allowed me to send my video and ancillary tasks to people and ask for their opinion. I also uploaded my video to YouTube, where my video has already received views. To answer the evaluation questions, I used Prezi, Powtoon and Blogger. I did this because I was familiar with how to use them as they are fairly easy and they allowed me to present my work in an organised, neat and simple way.

In conclusion, the media technologies I used in my construction, research, planning and evaluation stages helped me to create an effective and good quality final piece. The programmes I used made it easier for me to log my work and to plan all the stages i needed to in order to make my video and get feedback. Over the course of the year My knowledge and skills in each software really improved.

Evaluation Question 3

Question 3- What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

This is the feedback I received from people about my music video and ancillary tasks. The feedback suggests that the effects I used in my music video were effective in making it look professional and matching the genre and conventions of other pop music videos.
The feedback also suggests my video looked professional but I did get some constructive criticism that  I reused some of my footage too much and it may have looked more professional if I had got some extra footage.
They liked the colour effects I used and felt it represented the genre
Overall I feel that I have been given good criticisms to work with but have definitely got some good feedback and this shows that my music video and ancillary tasks were successful.

Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts?

When I used fonts in my ancillary texts, I tried to keep a theme between all of them by using the same type of fonts that were all similar to each other. By keeping with this theme and using similar texts it ensured that all of my ancillary texts tied in with each other and created a seamless group of texts.
When creating my digipak and magazine advert I used the same fonts throughout all of it
I used a font that seemed appopriate to my theme of music video and music genre.
I used 'dafont' which is a website of fonts to find fonts to use as my main titles.

As for characters I used the same two characters for the whole of the video, a boy and a girl, I included shots of the two people together and shots of the people on their own to signify a break up.
I also included shots of the girl lip syncing. I used pictures of these characters in my digipak and poster.
In my digipak I featured a picture of the girl and used the same picture in my magazine advert.
Using the same picture of the girl in all of my ancillary texts meant that they related to each other and fitted in as a hole so you would know that they were all advertising the same album.

Overall I believe that the combination of my main product and my ancillary texts was successful and effective. Each of the texts share similarities such as font, colour, miss en scene, characters etc.
All three pieces next to each other clearly fit together as a group of texts through their similar conventions. For example I kept to the same colour theme of  black and white/negative and used red at some places throughout.

I feel like there is clear continuity between all three pieces and this would appeal to the audience and attract people to buy the album.

Video editing

During the editing of my video I used a wide range of editing techniques and special effects/transitions
All of the shots in my video have a vignette colour effect on them (reduces the brightness and saturation at the centre) . I chose to use this effect because it creates a border around the photo and represents the sad emotions in the video.
At some points in the video I used slow motion, this is because it makes an emotional effect
I also sped some of the shots up for example on the chorus when the shot is of someone running, this is because it created a sense of urgency and drama when the beat of the song picked up.
I used transitions such as cross blur and fade, I used these for example to transition from a shot of two shadows to a shot of one. This makes the transitions smoother and the video in general.
